Friends,

T
he 19th Chhandayan Annual All-Night Concert of Indian music will be on Saturday, May 12th 8 pm to Sunday, May 13th 5.30 am at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street, New York, NY 10023.

Throughout the night
we will be listening to the celestial music from a galaxy of women performers,
most of them flying in from India for this special occasion. It will be our celebration of the contribution of women in Indian music and dance. Please come to experience the incredible beauty of the age-old tradition.

Chhandayan's Annual all-night concert has become one of the high points of Indian classical music to its global audience for the past eighteen years. The effects of Indian ragas and talas, presented from the evening to dawn by some of the finest exponents, unfailingly transport us to a state of euphoria.

To further our awareness as to this age-old
tradition of ragas designated to certain times of the day, night and seasons, please listen to the Morning Edition of National Public Radio, WNYC broadcast on September 13th, 2012. Click here to listen

The essence of Indian classical music has never been limited to the entertainment value. It is a profoundly spiritual experience, stimulating areas of our being, otherwise remaining dormant. The musicians performing in this year's all-night concert, in the atmosphere we set up in the space, will create the ultimate probability of evoking the best in ourselves.

We hope you will be there to experience it for yourself.

Welcoming you all,
Eric Phinney,
Director of Program, Chhandayan
