SAMVED EXAM BOARD  conducts exams and issues certificates up to Masters Level in following art forms:

  A. Indian classical Dance styles:
 
  1. Kathak
  2. Bharatnatyam
 

B. Indian (Hindustani ) Classical Vocal and swar vadya – that includes all musical      instruments like Harmonium, Flute, Sitar, violin etc.

  C. Tabla / Pakhwaj (Percussion Instruments).
 

Exam sessions:

 

There are two exam session every year. April- May session and Nov.- Dec. session. At a time, a student can appear only in one exam session in a year for same art form. However, a student can take exams in both the sessions for different art forms. Upto graduation there are total seven levels and further two levels for completing Masters level. Names of each level of exam are given bellow:

  1. Basic level /Prarambhik
  2. Elementary / Praveshika Pratham  ( Prav- I)
  3. Intermediate / Praveshika Purna   (Prav. – II)
  4. Pre-Diploma / Madhyama Pratham  (Madhyama – I)
  5. Diploma / Madhyama Purna (Madhyama – II)
  6. B.A. Part – 1 / Visharad Pratham / Upantya Visharad (Visharad – I)
  7. B.A.Part – 2 Visharad Purna (Visharad – II) This is final graduation.
 

However  final grading of Visharad is based on the total marks of level 6 plus total marks of level – 7 put together.

 
  1. M.A. Part – 1/  Alankar – Part – I (Masters level – part –I)
  2. M.A. Part- 2 / Alankar Part – II (Masters level – part – II)
  Again, grading of Alankar is also based on the total marks of level 8 plus total marks of level – 9 put together.
   
 

When to approach the Head Of the Center if you/ your students  wish to take exam?

If you want to take exam in April- May session:
If you wish to take exam from Archana Nrityalaya- New Jersey Exam Center, in
April-May session- for the year 2011, then right time to contact  the head of the center is at the beginning of Nov. 2010. Read the syllabus carefully and email us, as to how many forms of each level you need.

If you want to take exam in Nov- Dec. session:
If you wish to take exams from Archana Nrityalaya- New Jersey Exam center in Nov- Dec. session for the year 2011, then right  time to contact us in early May 2011.

First timers: - For  Dance and Music Teachers:
Music and Dance teachers who will be sending their students to take exam thru
 Archana Nrityalaya – New Jersey Exam Center for the first time, must send their own detailed resume/profile to the head of the center. The resume should be in the proper format as follows:
